Clarkson University

Located in Potsdam, New York, about ninety minutes northeast of the high school, Clarkson University is a common target school for many students in this area, particularly those interested in engineering. Over 65% of Clarkson’s undergraduate students are majoring in engineering related studies, yet there is only about three thousand undergraduates on campus. The student-faculty ratio is 13:1, and 89% of students return for their sophomore year. As a locality, the Canton/Potsdam area is known largely as a large college town, due to the four universities between the two towns. In terms of sports, while having many club and Division III sports, the key attractions are the Clarkson men’s and women’s ice hockey teams, each top tier Division I teams. So, if you have an interest in the engineering field, but want to stay close to home, be sure to look into Clarkson University.
